Inter Counties 2010 - Part Four
Saturday, March 20, 2010 at 07:42AM Emelia Gorecka moved up into the Under 20 age group to see how she would go, with a possible hope of gaining a place in the World cross country championships.

In the race it appeared an easier task than Richard Goodman had, when gaining his place on the plane. Having topped the Under 17 McCain Challenge for the season and having won the Under 17 race in the Southern and National, whatever one could say, she is a formidable talent and so it was not quite so surprising she won so well reports Alastair Aitken for Runners Digest. Gorecka also has the advantage of being coached by Aldershot's Mick Woods whose reputation grows and grows. On paper it did not look as though it would be easy as Emelia Gorecka was up against three high placed runners in the National 'Under 20' who were 2nd Kate Avery, 3rd Hannah Walker and 5th Lily Partridge
EMELIA GORECKA:- " I wanted to see how I would perform with older girls. It was interesting to find out!'
She added ' I felt really comfortable and I did not mean to go away but, I felt confident and kept going'
Her parents are very supportive of her running. She is doing her A' levels and mixing that well with her athletics. She first came into the sport when she was very young
' I enjoyed it a lot when I was little and was influenced by my brother Josh (As an Under 20 he ran 3:58.18 and 8:36.94 last year). Wherever he went I went with him, watching him and cheering him on. I followed in his footsteps."
