Middlesex XC Champs 2011

MOHAMUD AADAN followed up his wins in October in the Metropolitan League and Liddiard Trophy races with a third  victory. This time it was over the Wormwood Scrubs course reports Alastair Aitken.
Shaun Dixon took much of the pace on against the strong winds with Aadan and Henry Dodwell close at hand. Those three were still together entering the final large third lap but, just before the woods, Aadan went ahead but both Dixon and Dodwell had the satisfaction of being in the Highgate team that won well as, their first six were in the first 15 places of the 155 finishers.Highgate Harriers women had a clear team victory as well.
Aadan's TVH training partner Nazwari Dawit (19) had to contend with five challengers for most of the way in the 'Under 20' race but moved ahead with 600m remaining.
The Under 17 men's result was not concluded till the last 50 meters of the run in when Bhavesh Soneji, raced into the lead. " I put that finish down to my coaching by Steve Mann whose track training has enabled me to come through like that"
The Women's race was won by Kate Brown, who is coached by Bill Foster at Loughborough. She started to go away from Esther Evans and Leigh Lattimore after 2000m of the 8000. That was the order at half way but Lattimore outkicked Evans in the run up to the finish. Brown who ran her best cross-country race to win the Middlesex, was second last year in the Middlesex 'Under 20' race at Trent Park.
