Big thank you to our sponsors this year..........

Handmade Sausage Rolls - You know they make sense!

South London had a feast of sport today.....The London Surrrey Classic bike race, the U17 Inter-Counties and the Perseverance Wimbledon Dash 5k. Athletes turned up earlier than ever due to possible road mayhem but the only heat going down stemmed from the soles of the winner, Paskar Owor.

Owor (Bels), (interview from last year) content to sit in during the early part of the race retained his title over young student Andrew Penny (HW) and Nick Altman (TH&H). The depth of field remained pretty similar to last year (albeit with a completely different line up!). Apart from Owor, not one of the first 12 from 2010 were here today. Maybe the 'hill of doom' had left scars that take time to heal..........
Interestingly (well, not really) the first 8 were all from different clubs. A surprise turn up from the great John Downes from Ireland was good to see and a strong run from Andy Robinson (TH&H) saw him grab 8th overall.

The ladies race was a closer affait with Lucie Custance (Clapham Chasers) holding a 7 second win from Emily Alden from Epsom and Ewell (10.03 and 18.10 respectfully). Fiona Love (Clapham Chasers, 18.25) soon followed with Hercules own sweetheart Claire Grima chasing hard at 18.32.

Thames men won team honours while Clapham Chasers were runaway winners in the Ladies race.

For Surrey qualification rules – To be eligible to take part in the Surrey County 5 km Championship you must have been born in Surrey or have lived in Surrey for the last nine months. In either case you must not have represented another county or competed in another county’s championships during the current calendar year. If you have previously competed in a Surrey County championship then you retain eligibility, even if you now live outside the County, as long as you have not since represented another county or competed in another county’s championships. In both the Open Team race and Surrey County Team race the result will be calculated using finish positions of the first three eligible runners from each club. Team entry is not necessary.
